Planet Cali

I discovered a very unique piece of the California coastline that is almost out of this world! These small tide pools are revealed at low and provide a foreground from seemingly another planet. Taken in La Jolla, CA, I found this spot about 2 hours before sunset and camped out enjoying the last hours of light and thinking of how to compose this shot. There is so many good compositions in this area, that it was hard to decide, so I was running around like a mad man once the light was proper The only self crtique I have on this image is just that that I would've preferred it if there were some clouds in the sky, but it was a cloudless southern California day Local Native Americans, the Kumeyaay, called this location mat kulaaxuuy lit "land of holes" supposedly for the sea caves along the coast, but maybe this was why? The Spanish who arrived in this area in 1542 and then formed Alta California 200 later, called it La Jolla or "Jewel City" and that is the name that sticks with it to this day.
